Custom Ear Molds & Impressions

Precision-Fit Solutions for Hearing Devices, Protection, & Comfort

Some devices are only as good as their fit. At The Hearing Haven, we offer in-office custom ear impressions to ensure a secure, comfortable, and acoustically sound fit for hearing aids, earplugs, monitors, and protective molds. By creating an exact replica of your ear canal, we help eliminate common issues like whistling, shifting, or discomfort — especially during long wear or active use.

What We Offer: Custom-Fit Solutions Tailored to You

Our custom ear mold services cover a wide range of applications. We work with both patients and professionals to create solutions that fit right, stay put, and hold up with use.

Hearing Aid Molds

Custom molds for behind-the-ear (BTE) and receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids can reduce feedback, improve sound delivery, and stay comfortable for long-term wear. If your current earmolds are whistling, shifting, or causing irritation, it’s probably time for a better fit.

Musician Monitors & In-Ear Audio

For musicians, sound engineers, and frequent performers, we offer impressions for custom in-ear monitors (IEMs). We can also create molds for high-fidelity earphones or Bluetooth earpieces used in professional and recreational settings.

Swim Plugs & Noise Plugs

Whether you’re a swimmer who needs water-tight protection or a light sleeper who needs to block out ambient sound, we can design ear plugs that fit comfortably and stay secure. These are especially useful for children with PE tubes or anyone prone to swimmer’s ear.

Occupational Hearing Protection

Loud environments demand reliable hearing protection. We provide custom-fit plugs for construction, factory work, law enforcement, musicians, and others regularly exposed to high-decibel noise. These molds can be vented or solid, depending on use.

The Impression Process: Done Right the First Time

A custom mold is only as good as the impression it’s based on. Our process is precise, safe, and designed to get it right the first time, so you’re not dealing with loose fits, pressure points, or the hassle of refits.

We start with a brief otoscopic exam to make sure the ear canal is clear and healthy.

N
A small block is placed in the canal to protect the eardrum.
N
Then we gently fill the outer ear and canal with medical-grade impression material.
N
Once it sets (usually a few minutes), we remove it and inspect the impression for accuracy.
If it meets our standards, we’ll use it to order your custom mold through a trusted manufacturer or provide it directly to your audiologist or device company. If something’s off, we’ll take a second impression at no added cost.

What to Expect Out of Your First Exam

When people come to us with complaints about loose devices, whistling hearing aids, or uncomfortable plugs, it almost always traces back to a bad impression. A proper mold should:
Maintain consistent contact with the ear canal
Create a seal without causing pressure or pain
Improve sound delivery or noise blocking
Stay in place during activity or movement
Our team is trained to capture the full canal shape, not just a shallow outline, so your finished mold works the way it should.

Replacement Molds, Remakes, and More

If your custom earmold is cracked, uncomfortable, or just not working anymore, we can remake it—fast. We keep detailed records of previous impressions, models, and tubing types so replacements are quick and consistent. We’re also happy to make updated impressions if your ears have changed due to surgery, weight change, or age.

Who We Work With

We work directly with patients, parents, audiologists, ENTs, hearing aid specialists, and musicians. If you’ve been referred here for impressions, you’re in the right place. If you’re shopping for custom molds for the first time, we’ll walk you through the options.
